Judy and I had been in the same class at secondary school for 6 years and we were now entering the first year of college. We took different subjects so only really saw each other during free periods and breaks. It was during this first year that I began to feel.....all funny! Fast forward to our final year and I had managed to build up the courage to ask her out.
So there I was standing outside the 'common room' (senior student relaxing type room) taking my final breaths before walking in there and asking her out. This is where fate intervened. Just as I took my first step into the common room my friend bumped into me and happened to say "hey did you hear about Judy? She's just been asked out by that Simon from the year below and she said yes!"
UNBELIEVABLE! To my knowledge this girl had gone through 7 years of senior school without a boyfriend then the very day, no the very minute that I was going to ask her out, bloody Simon (who is now VERY fat.....snigger) gets there first!
Back to the present. Over the next 9 years I bumped into Judy a few times here and there (one time I was with my girlfriend and it caused a bit of an argument) but we only ever did the obligatory “how are you, what you up to nowadays?” thing. Facebook however allowed us to talk more.
I requested her as a friend and shot her an email. We got into a reply rhythm. It turns out that she was with Simon for 4 years before they broke up. Now Judy was with some guy she had met at work and had not long moved in with him (I was now gutted at this point). I also found out that she was a regular visitor at 'my' local pub and had been for years (NEVER actually seen her in there mind and I practically lived there). Eventually, after many emails we decided to meet at the pub. Just friends catching up (I had other ideas).
