As I write this I'm still pretty new to Twitter (Hey, we were all learner drivers once right?). I only started at the beginning of Feb 09. I was however, pretty experienced in the whole social website thing.
I was already a big player (yes, I used the term "big player") on FB with over 700 'friends'. Eventually I began to get a little bored of the constant stream of crap apps that people kept trying to make me install (I swear the next person that sent me a 'Mafia Wars' invite would of woke up next to a horses head), plus the terrible pictures of me in various states of inebriation that my so-called's kept posting. I logged on less and less. As I type I haven't seen my FB profile in 2 months. I needed a new outlet.
Enter Twitter!
I'd heard that Twitter had become the new promised land for selling stuff (oh, I should prob mention that I'm a avid part time Internet marketeer) so I decided I'd take a look. 2 Birds, 1 stone! It was TOTAL confusion (I now refer to the condition as Twitfusion) Who are these people talking too? Me? Themselves? Jesus? I just didn't get it. Was I allowed to talk to anyone I pleased? What are the rules here I thought?! ("The rules are there ain't no rules"-Crater Face-Grease-1978)
I stuck at it. I saw that if I played the numbers game and built up a big following then I might be able to sell some stuff! Well long story short, I consumed EVERY guide, article and blog I could find on Twitter and swelled my following to over 3000. Stuff was sold along the way. Then the unexpected happened. I fell head over heels in love with Twitter! The money making aspect became secondary.
"Show me the money?"...more like "show me the tweets!"
It took a 2 handed hold of my obsessive personality. I couldn't go 10 minutes without checking my follower count, mentions and DM's. I NEEDED the tweets (feed me Seymour)!! By the time my following reached 4000 I'd made a decision!
I decided to start again! I've done this because I want to portray my love for all things Twitter to my followers and that's kinda hard when you have been trying to sell them pile cream for the last 2 months.
Enter iTwiddle!
To go with my new persona I've also started this blog (but then you know that already) to try to help both myself and my new followers enjoy the awesomeness that is Twitter. I hope you like it and feel compelled to comment and join in.
Oh, and remember to follow me. Go on......Please!
Kind Regards
Gary Jinks
